The University of the Witwatersrand’s Faculty of Humanities is home to the Wits Centre for Diversity Studies (WiCDS), established in 2014. (Wits). In order to analyze other axes of oppression, such as gender, sexuality, disability, and class, the Centre has modified the idea of racial literacy developed by sociologist France Winddance Twine. The Center refers to the field of critical diversity studies as one that fosters diversity literacy in scholars and researchers.
