Title: “A Chinese Women’s Mosque SongBook of past and present Women’s Voices – ‘Why not an ethnography about being a feminist in other places?’”

Professor Maria H.A. Jaschok (PhD London/SOAS): most recently
Director of the International Gender Studies Centre at Lady Margaret Hall,
2000-2018, she is currently a Senior Research Associate of the
Contemporary China Studies in OSGA, and Supervisor and Tutor for the
MSt in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, University of Oxford. She
held most recently a Visiting Professorship with King’s College, London,
2019-2021. Her research interests are in the areas of gendered constructions
of memory; feminist and aural ethnography; innovative research
methodologies and uses of oral history in the writing of women’s history in
Asian contexts. Long years of close research partnerships and friendships in
the field engendered interest in feminist theorizing and ethnographic
methodology and led to writing on collaborative modes of cross-cultural
research and authorship. She is a member of many international academic
and professional organizations, serving on steering committees, editorial and
advisory boards.

Devin Sarno is a US national champion competitive speech coach and advocate. She studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Los Angeles, The British-American Dramatic Academy at the University of Oxford, and The Groundlings, developing her love of live performance, improv, & sketch comedy. In her time as a public speaking coach she has seen first-hand the educational and social-emotional benefits of participation especially for girls and marginalized communities. Additionally, Devin coaches communication and presentation skills in STEM based corporate settings. Recently, she has focused her efforts inside the expert witness industry. Her work is aimed at increasing the credibility, authenticity, and authority of those presenting to US courts in hopes of supporting a more equitable judicial system.

Prof. Stella Olusola Odebode

Prof. Stella Olusola Odebode

Professor Stella Olusola Odebode is a distinguished academic in the field of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where she currently serves as a Professor. She began her academic career as a Lecturer II in February 1999 and was promoted to the rank of Professor on October 1, 2011. Her research focuses on gender analysis, women’s roles in agricultural extension, rural development, poverty alleviation, and community participation in resource management. With a deep commitment to enhancing rural income generation, especially through women’s cooperatives, she also works on integrating socially marginalized sectors of rural populations into development programs, and addressing food security challenges. Professor Odebode holds degrees from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and the University of Ibadan. She served as the President of the Global Youth Leadership and Girl-Child Foundation (GYLGF) and the Focal Person/Coordinator of the Gender Mainstreaming Office of the University between December 2011 and October 2018.

Dr. Laura Hambley Lovett is a distinguished work and career psychologist and a leading thought leader on the evolution of work. With an unwavering fascination for the intersection of work and life, Dr. Laura has dedicated her career to improving organizations and helping people thrive.
Honored as a Woman of Distinction in Canada in 2014 and a recipient of the Canadian Woman of Inspiration Award as a Global Influencer in 2018, Dr. Laura’s contributions to the field are widely recognized. Completing her Doctorate in 2002 with a focus on remote leadership, Dr. Laura accurately predicted the shift towards more flexible and mobile work environments. As a future of work pioneer, she continues to write and innovate on this ever-evolving topic.
In 2013, Dr. Laura co-created assessments and training programs for organizations to excel in remote work settings and co-founded Work EvOHlutionTM (now acquired by Humance). The company, renowned for developing The Distributed Work Profiler, featured in Scientific American magazine as the world’s first personality profile of a remote worker, was also recognized as one of Alberta’s most innovative start-ups by Alberta Venture magazine. Dr. Laura has presented multiple times at the prestigious innovation megaconference, South by Southwest, in Austin, Texas.
As an Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Calgary, Dr. Laura enjoys collaborating with both undergraduate and graduate students on various research projects. Her contributions to the field of organizational psychology are extensive, including authoring books such as “Growing the Virtual Workplace” and penning psychological thrillers like “Losing Cadence” and “Finding Sophie.” These novels not only entertain but also raise awareness on crucial topics such as mental health and domestic violence. Through this focus, Dr. Laura has become a fervent advocate for ending violence against girls and women, actively participating in initiatives that educate, fundraise, and bring awareness to these critical issues.
Dr. Laura’s passion for transforming creative ideas into successful business strategies led to the founding of three counselling psychology practices: Calgary Career Counselling, Canada Career Counselling, and Synthesis Psychology. Additionally, she has established six business brands offering organizational assessment and consulting services. Never afraid to try something new or do things differently, Dr. Laura has consistently pushed the boundaries of her field.
Committed to philanthropy and charitable work, Dr. Laura serves on various non-profit committees and boards, focusing on ending violence against girls and women and fostering confidence and leadership skills in children and youth in the performing arts. Her dedication to these causes underscores her commitment to making a positive impact on the community.

Prof. Amanda Gouws

Amanda Gouws is Distinguished Professor of Political Science and holds a PhD from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in the USA. Her fields of specialisation are South African Politics and Gender Politics and Political Behavior. She has published widely in these areas. Her areas of interest in Gender Politics are women and citizenship, women’s representation, women’s movements and mobilisation and gender based violence. She is the editor of (Un)Thinking Citizenship: Feminist Debates in Contemporary South Africa, Routledge and Juta (2005), and co-editor of Nasty Women Talk Back, Imbali Press (2017). This is a popular book on women’s activism during the Trump era.
Her co-authored book with James Gibson from Washington University St Louis, Overcoming Intolerance in South Africa: Experiments in Democratic Persuasion (Cambridge University Press, 2003) was awarded the Alexander George Book Award for best book in Political Psychology in 2003. In 2004 she received the Rector’s Award for Excellence in Research. She has published widely on issues in South African Politics and Gender Politics. In 2012 she received the award for Distinguished Women in Science from the Department of Science and Technology. In 2012 she received the Wilma Rule Award for the best paper in the category “Women and Politics” from the International Political Science Association (IPSA) at their conference in Madrid, Spain, with a paper titled ” Multiculturalism in South Africa:Dislodging the Binary Between Universal Human Rights and Culture/Tradition”. Her edited manuscript with Daiva Stasiulis, titled “Gender and Multiculturalism: North/South Perspectives” appeared with Routledge in 2014.
She is a member of the Association of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAF). She was a Commissioner with the South African Commission for Gender Equality from 2012 to 2014.
In 2007 she was the Edith Keeger Wolf Distinguished Visiting Professor at Northwestern University, USA. In April 2011 she was a resident at the Rockefeller Foundation Centre in Bellagio, Italy. In 2015 she was awarded a South African Research Chairs Initiative Chair in Gender Politics. She has published over 200 opinion pieces in various media and received the Rector’s Award for Excellence in the Media and Thought Leadership in 2018 and 2019.
