fow 2021 THE SUCCESS STORY OF 4TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FUTURE OF WOMEN

The Asian African Association for Women, Gender and Sexuality (AAAWGS) and The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), together organized the 4th International Conference on the Future of Women 2021 on a virtual platform under the theme of “Global Dimensions, New Strategies and Visions” from 25th – 26th February 2021. The conference was co-hosted by Vasanta College for Women – Admitted to the Privileges of Banaras Hindu University, India and Department of Women’s Studies, Alagappa University, India. The academic and strategic partners included Allameh Tabataba’i University, Iran and Halley Movement, Mauritius.

The 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 successfully concluded with the 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝟓𝟎+ Academicians, Researchers, and Professionals from 𝟏𝟓+ 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 across the globe and the conference consisted of the speeches from renowned speakers, best presentations, roundtable discussions, special features, publication session and networking opportunities.

INAUGURATION CEREMONY AND KEYNOTE SPEECH

The opening remarks of FOW 2021 were made by Mr. Isanka P. Gamage (Co-Founder & Managing Director – The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka) and the Conference Chair, Prof. Anita Singh (Centre for Women’s Studies and Development, Banaras Hindu University, India), Representing hosting partner universities, Prof. Alka Singh (Principal of the Vasanta College for Women – Admitted to the Privileges of Banaras Hindu University, India) and Prof. K. Manimekalai (Department of Women’s Studies, Alagappa University, India) addressed the gathering. The keynote speaker was Mahendranath Busgopaul, Secretary General of Halley Movement Coalition from Mauritius.

FOW 2021 consisted of over 50+ participants from 15 countries around the world, including United Kingdom, Australia, United States, Uganda, South Africa, Malaysia, Japan, Spain, Italy, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Mauritius, Indonesia, and Pakistan. The Conference provided an opportunity for delegates to share their valuable knowledge from various perspectives. This conference had representation from almost every continent and regions across the world, to share views and ideas on future of women and network with international colleagues.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF FOW 2021

PANEL DISCUSSION

The FOW 2020 presented a Panel Discussion under the theme of “Gender and Media in the 21st Century: Politics of Identity, Sexuality and Representation”. Prof. Alka Singh, Principal of the Vasanta College for Women Admitted to the Privileges of Banaras Hindu University Krishnamurti Foundation, India was the moderator of the event. There were six scholars who served as panelists at the event: Ms. Zia Mandviwalla, Film Director/ Writer, New Zealand, Ms. Debjani Halder, International Award Winning Film Scholar, Film and Television Institute of India, India, Ms. Namita Bhandare, Award-Winning Journalist, India, Ms. Supriya Sobti Gupta, Television News Producer, India, Ms. Shrija Singh, Law Graduate, India, and Anurag Dave from India. This panel discussion explored the title in many perspectives.

DISCUSSNET

The “Discussnet” gave everyone an opportunity to meet new people and interact with the attendees at each of the discussion to address new topics. Participants were allowed to take part in all 3 discussions about the following topics in detail.
