ROUND TABLE DISCUSSIONS

—————————

Future Women 2020 will consist of three (03) interactive roundtables for all participants of the conference. These have always been a fantastic occasion to share opinion and knowledge about different topics in women studies, that we all, one way or another, get to face. Each round table will be facilitated by a moderator, allowing the participants to engage, share their experiences and be inspired by the learnings and challenges of others.
The roundtables will give everyone a chance to meet new people and interact with the attendees at each of the tables to address new topics. Participants are encouraged to select their table according to their interest.

Table 1: Social Media and Women

Topic: Impact of Social Media on Women

—————————

In the modern day, women’s leadership in social networks can tear down old stereotypes and demographic categories, generating a real impact on media, advertisement, and entertainment. According to many social media specialists and studies, it has shown that the female leadership on the Internet, and particularly, social apps are vital.  Women are more active on social media; they use it more and participate more than men. This is why it is believed that women will mark trends from now on since they have typically adapted more and better to the technology. This discussion will be open for the participants to exchange their opinions on the fast evolution of social media and how it has made changes to women’s life.

Table 3: Women in Migration

Topic: Female migration: Struggle and Challenges

—————————

It is very difficult to generalize about global patterns of migration. In recent times, the feminization of international migration raises crucial policy issues and concerns. Being both women and migrants the problems faced by women are crucial. From a gender perspective, women should have equal opportunities and treatment as men in immigration and emigration policies and in access to international labour markets. On the other hand, their status as women, as migrants or non-nationals, and as workers are particularly vulnerable to various forms of discrimination exploitation and abuse. This discussion will bring into focus the struggles and challenges faced by migrant women in order to find special protection for them.
